The Dazzling Sun Center of Our Being

Whoa, what is this all about? Perhaps I'm imagining how much my entire body adores warmth and sunshine. I've often mentioned to my love, Greg, how I need to have a tiny home on a farm with lots of property in the full sunshine. I don't care where it is--but I kinda do. Tennessee? Idaho? Florida? Utah?

We grapple with how the sun controls our days. If it's cloudy or foggy first thing, we inevitably crave comfort, warmth, and words like "What are we gonna do today?" There are always long walks with Wizard--our newfound comedian pup--or a trip to the health food store to stock up on what our bodies want in chillier climates, or Greg going his way and me going mine. If the sun shines brightly from the get-go, you can find me having my homemade matcha latte on the front patio bench corner, face in the sun, Wizard by my side.

Otherwise, it's naked time on a cushion in the backyard positioned ever-so-awesomely to not allow lookie-loos to see my private parts. Being naked and in the sun is like nirvana to me. Just ask Greg. I feel as though I was born to run around the Mediterranean countries with no clothes on. Only me, my tan skin, my whole body running freely. It's such a rush to me, so I don't shy away from it or hold back.

Getting back to the finale of winter though, here we are in a new month. February is full of romance and our Mother's birthdays. Mi Madre's is on Feb. 2 and Greg's mom is on Feb. 21. We'll most likely head down to L.A. to celebrate his mom's and we'll get to see my mom in mid-May when we head east to care for my brother's animal compound again. Then there's Valentine's Day. What to do about that?

Greg and I are more non-traditional about these romantic celebrations (we prefer dinner at home, a long dog walk in the evening, and Netflix until early bedtime). But what about flowers? Greg's a beautiful giver of the most captivating assortment of flowers. All local blooms and they last forever. Dang, he's such a good man and I pinch myself how lucky I am to be with him. He's so grounded, loyal, generous, calm, funny, athletic, handsome, and on and on...

OK, where was I? Yes, February and what's in store. Rain will be here again and intermittent throughout the month, and the shore birds and native flora will be flourishing, I'll undoubtedly get antsy about Springtime and my love of in-between seasonal sensations, and Wizard will be maturing further. We'll also be planning another longer road trip that takes us to another place and state where we can hole up for a month and experience a new environment. Possibly in the summertime when the fog really rolls in here and sticks around. Not Arizona though. Not another California scene. But, somewhere fresh and by water. Greg needs a river, a lake, or the ocean to thrive inside his soul.

We'll see where that takes us for a month-long stay. Until then, February happenings are happening. Did I mention I've been getting more into taking saunas lately? Greg has this amazing infrared sauna in his 'music room' and I now partake several days per week. It not only detoxifies my system, but the dry warmth aligns with my cravings. I still tiptoe into a hot bubble bath, but those saunas...wow, unbelievably satisfying and sleep-inducing. God knows I love my sleep, too. I mentioned to Greg last week that going to bed is the highlight of my day. Not exactly what you dirty minds are thinking, but the actual lying down, closing my eyes, shutting off my brainy ping-pong head, and resting comfortably with my man and dog by my side. HIGHLIGHT!

After a rainstorm though, the air is still and nature's aromas are more than alive. Mix in the sights and the serene sounds and it's an undeniable post-storm experience. Here's a little blurb about the White Egret and Little Heron (White) that graces our inlet more often than not: "This elegant white heron bears the same message as the Grey Heron, only its promise tells of purification and fulfillment on a more intense scale. The white heron speaks of the dazzling sun-center of our being, the heart, and the shining brow. It speaks of the Bright Knowledge of spiritual achievement and healing beyond time and space. Seeing this majestic bird calls the fruition of all your striving is at hand, for your season has come!"

I sense this. Seeing this elegant beauty on the first of a new month reaffirms a lot for me. New beginnings, cusping on retirement, Wizard gaining comfort and more loyalty to us, and writing projects that are full of creativity and heart. I love the transitions.

Here's to more of what you need to soothe your entire being. Here's to more love, more hope, more days of wonder. Here's to the goofy, the depths, and the alchemy of spirit. And lastly, here's to connections and communication that give your life a whirlwind of good.

See you next month! Unless my imagination is on fire and I want to share other blurbs about life.
