Never say never. Especially when it comes to THC and its effects on the body. Thus, I've taken the plunge into CBD edibles and haven't looked back since. My muscles and sleep cycle are thanking me profusely. ;)

I've been a fan of CBD ever since I entered my mid-60s, and for Wizard's overall health, it's been a godsend. I'll get to that in a few.

Aging inevitably creates a wealth of minor aches, pains, and discomfort in my body. Not the obvious challenges of a Baby Boomer body per se, but more so the results I'm experiencing from years of distance running, daily yoga, weekly Pilates and weight training, and just general movement within the demands of gardening, alongside Wizard's needs. What I would give to be able to rumble and tumble like the good ol' days of yesteryear.

And so it is. I inhale about six gummies per night, giving myself enough time for these sweet treats to take effect before bedtime. As a matter of fact, I dabble with the timing and amounts of my intake. Every evening is different, as I try to find the perfect formula without a gummy hangover, so to speak.

What I've discovered is that I no longer need the "sleep drink" I was imbibing each night. It was a concoction I bought at the GNC health store; however, it was getting to the point where I was either bored with it or it no longer helped me doze off comfortably. Basically, I was open to trying something else.

Enter CBD broad- and full-spectrum gummies. Greg's son was using them for a while and touted the benefits for inflammation, indigestion, and insomnia. I thought I'd try a few out and see what happened. BINGO! I found the perfect solution for my overthinking mind and restless body that happens around 9 p.m.

I also find that CBD gummies help whenever my belly is on fire after certain foods. Who'd have thought?

Wizard has been on a 600 mg CBD oil (free of THC because it's toxic to dogs) that I add to his food twice daily. It's been helping his seizures tremendously, as well as any other inflammation that might plague his body. CBD oil was recommended by Wizard's holistic vet at the onset of his seizure activity. In addition to the CBD oil I added, Wizard was given a remarkable acupuncture treatment by Dr. Todd when our pup was only 7 months old. Again, a godsend to his overall wellness and treatment plan.

So when it comes to a peaceful night's sleep, mitigating the effects of digestive issues, or giving my body some relief from aches and pains, I reach for the CBD gummies, which best address my issues. I typically ingest CBG (good for digestion and soreness) and CBN (the miracle gummy for proper rest). I take each about half an hour before bedtime to ensure they work while I'm snoozing away.

And I wake up super motivated and ready to go! Thank the CBD gods and goddesses.

There you have it. My humble take on CBD wellness and how using this product responsibly and healthfully has played an integral part in my body, mind, and soul. We have two dispensaries here on the Central California Coast. Both are in Morro Bay, so that tourist town must have a license to sell these products. Either way, I'm grateful to be able to drive to these dispensaries and take care of my health in a CBD gummy way.

Now that September and the autumn months are upon us, we are entering our favorite time of year. The sunsets are spectacular, unfortunately, due to the multiple wildfires up on Big Sur and Northern California. But these fall months have always given our area a beautiful reminder that we don't live in a fog fest 24/7; instead, we get cooled off by the fog before it lifts and exits in the afternoon. I used to despise the fog when I lived in Carmel during the 90s.

Not anymore. I welcome the graying skies and cooler temperatures because my garden welcomes these things. Any weather my garden loves, I love as well. Maybe my CBD wellness pension has helped my outlook on things; I'm not sure. But...

Being a CBD fan for the past few months has really amped up my health in ways I wasn't sure about, yet I am welcoming the effects of no pain in my knee, limited pain in my hands from lots of yoga downward-facing dogs, and a full eight hours of sleep without disruption. It's all good, and it's all part of a new wellness plan that will last for as long as I need.

Thank you, God. I am still experiencing flashes of grief from Mom's passing, and I have some weird emotions at the strangest moments every day, but it's okay. I can express myself in ways I never expected, and it's because I have lots of mixed feelings about regular friends who visit or family that pops over unannounced. I guess I have to forgive myself for all these emotions, and I will, and I am. More thanks to faith and my dog, Wizard.

I love you all.

Gerry Ellen xoxo
